A Kiwanis club is responsive to the needs of the local community. The members choose the projects that will do the most good for the most people. We focus most of our programs on kids in the community because our leadership programs are built for kids of all ages. But, we respond to emergencies, help food pantries, sponsor sport programs for kids with cognitive or physical difficulties, supply books to kids, and partner with other non-profit organizations to bring a larger response when people need help. Come to one of our meetings and bring your ideas for service projects. Everything is possible.
Here are some examples of projects we can do in Waxahachie
Kiwanis Family Clubs

Kiwanis International empowers people at every stage of life to become competent, capable, and compassionate leaders by helping them learn to help others. Through its Service Leadership Programs, Kiwanis enables its youngest leaders to serve their communities, opening doors for them to change the world. Through Aktion Club, Kiwanis members give adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop initiative and leadership skills in serving their communities while enabling their integration into society.
As a Kiwanis member, you have the privilege of serving and guiding these developing leaders:
Kiwanis Kids

Our High School Key Club programs are awesome ways for students to get service hours and learn how to serve people in need. Here is a group of Key Clubbers working the food line packing food for families. Our goal is to help create a Key Club in Waxahachie and then sponsor this club on future events.

An Angels Team is a wonderful way to help kids who have physical or cognitive difficulties play a team sport and get a chance to win every game! Every child is special on our teams and get assistance in being the best they can be and learn some important skills along the way. This is a program we want to start in Waxahachie. Sound like fun?

Kiwanis clubs help out in emergencies. We are partners with the Salvation Army and have worked side-by-side with FEMA and the Red Cross helping deliver supplies and food to people who have lost their homes due to fire, flood, tornados or other natural disasters. This is a biggie program for Kiwanis clubs in Texas and Oklahoma. If you are an RN, Paramedic, CERT member, Police officr, or other first responder, here is a way to help train other volunteers who want to help when disaster strikes and all hands are needed. The above pictures shows over 500 Kiwanis backpacks being filled to deliver to families who lost their homes during the tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma, 10 years ago.

Here, a group of Kiwanis Key Club members from a local high school help some adult Kiwanis members build a wheelchair ramp for a citizen who needed help. We have clubs across Texas and Oklahoma that have built thousands of wheelchair ramps over the past 40 years. While Kiwanis is mostly about helping kids, we also help our neighbors too. We have over 500,000 members world-wide and help millions of people each year. People helping people. As simple as that.
